About Basics Aids Organization

Transforming Lives Through Compassion, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Community Development

Basics Aids Organization (BAO) is a registered non-profit, community-based organization established in 2011 to improve the lives of vulnerable children, women, youth, and families in Uganda.

Our organization was founded by a group of compassionate individuals who believed that every person deserves access to quality education, healthcare, nutritious food, sustainable agriculture, clean water, and opportunities for a better future. Inspired by the challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS and communities affected by extreme poverty, the founders committed themselves to serving those most in need.

For more than a decade, Basics Aids Organization has worked alongside communities to restore hope and create lasting change. What began with helping children stay in school and providing food to vulnerable families has grown into a comprehensive community development organization working in education, healthcare, agriculture, humanitarian assistance, and community empowerment.

Our Core Program Areas

Education

We believe education is the foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. We support vulnerable children through school fee assistance, school feeding, learning materials, and the operation of our community school so that every child has the opportunity to learn and build a better future.

Healthcare

Through Basic Medical Centre, we provide affordable and free healthcare services to vulnerable families. We offer free treatment to people living in underserved communities and organize community medical outreach camps twice every month. We are committed to expanding access to quality healthcare through improved medical facilities, medicines, equipment, and community health education.

Agriculture and Food Security

We promote sustainable agriculture as a pathway to ending hunger and reducing poverty. We support community members with agricultural initiatives that improve food production, strengthen household incomes, and encourage self-reliance. Through these efforts, we aim to improve nutrition, increase food security, and build resilient communities.

Community Development

We empower vulnerable families through food assistance, women’s economic empowerment, livelihood initiatives, skills development, and other community-based programs that enable individuals and families to become self-reliant.

Faith and Community Support

We believe strong communities are built on hope, compassion, and unity. Basics Aids Organization has supported the construction and development of a community church that serves as a place of worship, guidance, and community engagement while promoting peace, dignity, and social responsibility.
