School Feeding & Nutrition Program
Nourishing Children, Supporting Education, Building Brighter Futures
At Basics Aids Organization, we understand that a hungry child cannot learn effectively. Good nutrition is essential for concentration, healthy growth, regular school attendance, and academic success.
For this reason, our commitment to education extends beyond constructing classrooms. We also support school feeding to ensure that vulnerable children receive nutritious meals while attending school.
Through our partnership with Brayden Community School, we continue to provide food assistance so that children can learn in a healthier and more supportive environment.
Why We Started the School Feeding Program
While supporting Brayden Community School, we discovered that many children arrived at school hungry or without having eaten a proper meal.
For some children, the meal provided at school is the most reliable meal they receive during the day.
Recognizing that hunger affects learning, health, and school attendance, Basics Aids Organization introduced the School Feeding & Nutrition Program as part of our commitment to improving children’s lives.
We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn without the burden of hunger.
Our Commitment
Basics Aids Organization continues to support the school feeding program through contributions from our members and supporters.
The program aims to:
- Improve children’s nutrition.
- Increase school attendance.
- Support children’s physical and mental development.
- Help pupils concentrate in class.
- Reduce the effects of hunger on learning.
By providing nutritious meals, we create an environment where children can focus on building a better future.
Beyond the Classroom
Our commitment to children extends beyond education.
Working together with Basic Medical Centre, we also support children’s health through:
- Basic healthcare services.
- Health education.
- Medical referrals when necessary.
- Monitoring children’s well-being.
This integrated approach helps children remain healthy, attend school regularly, and achieve their full potential.
Community Impact
The School Feeding & Nutrition Program has helped:
- Encourage regular school attendance.
- Improve children’s concentration during lessons.
- Support healthier growth and development.
- Reduce the burden on vulnerable families.
- Strengthen the connection between education, health, and community development.
Every meal served is an investment in a child’s future.
Current Needs
As the number of pupils continues to grow, so does the need for additional support.
Our priorities include:
- Maize flour.
- Beans.
- Rice.
- Cooking oil.
- Sugar.
- Nutritious food supplies.
- Cooking utensils.
- Food storage facilities.
- Sustainable support for the daily feeding program.
Additional support will enable us to provide consistent meals to more children throughout the school year.
Our Vision
Basics Aids Organization believes that no child should miss school because of hunger.
Our long-term vision is to build a sustainable school feeding program that ensures every child attending Brayden Community School has access to nutritious meals that support learning, health, and personal development.
Through partnerships with individuals, churches, businesses, foundations, and development organizations, we hope to expand this program and reach even more vulnerable children.
Together, we can help children grow, learn, and build brighter futures.
