Our Journey Since 2011
A Story of Compassion, Commitment, and Community Transformation
Since its establishment in 2011, Basics Aids Organization has been committed to improving the lives of vulnerable people through practical, community-led development.
What began as a small initiative driven by compassion has grown into an organization serving communities through education, healthcare, sanitation, food security, agriculture, women’s empowerment, and community development.
Throughout this journey, our work has been made possible primarily through the dedication and financial contributions of our founders, members, volunteers, and well-wishers. Every project reflects our belief that lasting change begins with people who are willing to serve.
2011 – The Beginning
Basics Aids Organization was founded in 2011 by individuals who believed that every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and access to essential services.
The idea for the organization was inspired by compassion after one of our founders witnessed the challenges faced by a friend living with HIV/AIDS. This experience led to a shared commitment to support vulnerable communities through practical action.
The founding members included:
- Ezeji Wisdom Basic – Nigeria
- Nakato Cavine – Uganda
- Nnamdi Mgbaji – Nigeria
- Allen – Uganda
- Izuchukwu – Nigeria
Together, they laid the foundation for an organization dedicated to serving communities regardless of religion, nationality, or background.
Responding to Community Needs
Rather than beginning with large projects, Basics Aids Organization listened to community members and addressed their most urgent needs one step at a time.
Every project built on the success of the one before it.
Community Sanitation
One of our first major community projects in Charles City, Massajja was the construction of a public toilet after identifying a serious lack of sanitation facilities.
This project improved hygiene, promoted public health, and restored dignity for community members.
To ensure the facility remained clean and operational, Basics Aids Organization employed Madam Florence as the caretaker. She continues to maintain the facility today.
Community Church Development
The Local Chairperson, Mr. Charles, generously donated land for the benefit of the community.
With financial support provided by Basics Aids Organization members, the organization financed and constructed the Community Sage Deliverance Power Church, which was later donated to the community.
Today, the church serves not only as a place of worship but also as a center for community meetings, counseling, youth activities, and daily food assistance for vulnerable residents.
Education
While carrying out community work, Basics Aids Organization met Brian Mutebi, a dedicated teacher educating children in extremely difficult conditions.
Recognizing his commitment, the organization partnered with him to improve the learning environment.
This partnership led to the construction and development of Brayden Community School, which is now a registered school serving a growing number of children.
Our support continues through school feeding, learning materials, healthcare, and community partnership.
School Feeding & Nutrition
Understanding that hungry children struggle to learn, Basics Aids Organization established a School Feeding & Nutrition Program to support vulnerable pupils attending Brayden Community School.
The program helps improve nutrition, school attendance, concentration, and children’s overall well-being.
Healthcare
To address limited access to affordable healthcare, Basics Aids Organization established Basic Medical Centre.
The clinic provides:
- General outpatient services.
- Free treatment for vulnerable people.
- Maternal and child healthcare.
- HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.
- Community medical outreach camps twice every month.
- Health education and referrals.
Healthcare remains one of our core commitments to the communities we serve.
Women’s Empowerment
Recognizing the important role women play in strengthening families, Basics Aids Organization developed programs to support:
- Small businesses.
- Skills training.
- Agriculture.
- Food assistance.
- Household income generation.
Our goal is to empower women to become economically independent while improving the well-being of their families.
Agriculture & Food Security
Basics Aids Organization promotes agriculture as a sustainable way to improve nutrition and household income.
Through agriculture and food security initiatives, we work to strengthen family livelihoods and reduce hunger within vulnerable communities.
Looking to the Future
Although we have accomplished much since 2011, our journey is far from over.
Growing communities bring new challenges and greater needs.
Our current priorities include:
- Expanding Brayden Community School.
- Constructing additional classrooms.
- Drilling a borehole to provide clean water.
- Building a safe bridge for school children.
- Expanding Basic Medical Centre.
- Strengthening the School Feeding & Nutrition Program.
- Supporting more women through livelihood initiatives.
- Expanding agriculture and food security programs.
- Reaching more vulnerable families through community outreach.
Our Vision
We envision communities where every child has access to education, every family has hope, every woman has the opportunity to thrive, every patient receives compassionate healthcare, and every person is treated with dignity.
This vision continues to guide everything we do.
